Bangladesh visa
Bangladesh visa, filed at our counter
The visa is granted by the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh, not by us. What we do is prepare the file, check it against the current requirements, and submit it — so a missing photograph size or an incomplete address in Bangladesh is caught here rather than at the counter window.
Applications are made online at visa.gov.bd. Rules, fees and forms are set by the Bangladesh authorities and change without notice; treat everything below as a guide and confirm with us before you travel.
Before you apply
Have these ready before the form is opened. The application asks for all of it in one sitting, and a half-finished form is the most common reason a file comes back.
Passport
Valid for at least six months, with blank pages. Bring any previous passport as well.
Photograph
45×35mm, white background, taken within the last six months. For the online form, a JPEG no larger than 300KB.
Address in Bangladesh
Where you will stay, in full: village, post office, police station, district, pincode and city. This field is compulsory and cannot be left vague.
Contact details
A phone number and an email address that reach you — the centre uses both for appointment and collection notices.
Proof of residence
Aadhaar, voter ID, ration card, driving licence or PAN. One of them, matching the address on the form.
What each visa asks for
The category has to match the purpose of the visit — a business trip on a tourist visa is refused at the border, not at the counter.
Tourist
Proof of residence, and a vaccination certificate recognised by the WHO. Family tourist applications are filed together.
Business
A certificate from a recognised trade association or chamber, and documents showing the business is trading.
Student
An admission letter from a government-approved institution, a sponsorship letter, and a bank guarantee.
Employment and work permit
The appointment letter, and a recommendation from BIDA, BEPZA or the ministry the work falls under.
Medical
The hospital's appointment or admission letter, and proof of funds for the treatment.
Others
Investor, intern and research, NGO, journalist, government delegate and diplomatic visas each have their own list. Ask at the counter and we will tell you what the current one is.
Forms you may be asked for
Downloaded from the official application centre, not from us. We will tell you which one your visit needs — the wrong form is a wasted trip.
MRV form
The standard machine-readable visa application.
Offline MRP reissue form
For corrections and alterations to a passport.
Import and export policy forms
For trade documentation.
Form for Bangladeshi nationals
For Bangladeshi citizens who need a visa.
Form for project workers
For Indian citizens working on government or non-government projects.
Form for medical students
For Indian students studying medicine in Bangladesh.
Child endorsement forms
For a child travelling on a parent's passport.
At the application centre
The centre is a secure building and the rules are enforced at the door. There is no cloakroom, so anything on this list has to be left behind before you arrive.
No electronics
Mobile phones, cameras, laptops, music players, discs and cassettes.
Documents only
A plastic folder holding the application. No backpacks, travel bags, briefcases or suitcases.
Nothing inflammable
Matchboxes, lighters and fuel.
Nothing sharp
Scissors, pen knives and nail files, as well as weapons and explosives.
No sealed envelopes
Packages and sealed envelopes are not admitted. Security may refuse other items at their discretion.
Applicants only
Friends, relatives and business contacts wait outside. Interpreters for hearing-impaired applicants are admitted, and staff assist applicants who need help.
What it costs
Two different charges, from two different places. Only one of them is ours.
- Visa fee
- Free for Indian nationals
- Set by the Bangladesh authorities. Other nationalities pay a fee and must attach the receipt.
- Application centre service charge
- ₹825
- ₹699.50 plus taxes, charged by the application centre for submitting the file. Indicative — confirm the current figure with us.
- Our filing charge
- Ask at the counter
- Depends on the category and how much of the file we prepare. We will quote before anything is filed.
One warning
Nobody can buy you a Bangladesh visa. A promise of a guaranteed visa, a faster queue or an approval in exchange for a fee is a fraud, and the application centre says so on its own pages. We file what you are eligible for, and tell you when you are not.
